Air Arms: Four Decades of British Airgun Excellence

February 3, 2025

Air Arms, established in 1983, stands as a testament to British manufacturing excellence in the airgun industry. Founded by Bob Nicholls, alongside General Manager Colin King and Sales and Marketing Manager Bill Sanders, the company has grown to become one of Britain's most respected airgun manufacturers.

Early Origins

The roots of Air Arms can be traced back to the late 1960s through its predecessor companies, Organ Engineering and Sussex Armoury. These early ventures laid the groundwork for what would become one of Britain's most innovative airgun manufacturers.

Technological Innovation

A significant milestone came in 1988 when Air Arms entered the pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) air rifle market. The company's investment in Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machinery revolutionized their production capabilities, enabling unprecedented precision in manufacturing.

Collaborative Excellence

Key collaborations with industry experts Ken Turner and Nick Jenkinson proved instrumental in developing some of Air Arms' most successful models. Their expertise contributed to the creation of renowned rifles like the TX200 and the Pro-Target, which set new standards in airgun design and performance.

Modern Leadership

Following the passing of founder Bob Nicholls in 2011, leadership transitioned to his daughter Claire Nicholls. Under her guidance, Air Arms has maintained its commitment to innovation and quality, continuing to produce air rifles that are highly regarded by both sports shooters and hunters worldwide.
